Soundscape Composition & Multichannel Performance

Soundscape composition & performance has been a mainstay of my recording work for many years. I mostly, if not exclusively, work with found sounds that I recorded myself (or occasionally recordings sent to my by friends).

Thus, it's deeply connected to my habit of casual field recording. I typically have at least one microphone, even if just the ones in my phone, with me whereever I go. In that sense, my soundscape composition work has a strong autobiographical component, even if it's not a purely documentary, "found sound" approach, but makes use of abstraction, mostly through granulation.

Typically there's no strict differentiation between composition and performance, as the compositions are the result of an improvisational live coding process that could have just as well been performed on stage, and, in fact, many of the recorded pieces were premiered live, often at one of the multichannel concerts from the Algobiente series.
